Our Story
A Historic Restoration in Nelson, BC
Stirling Suites was born from a vision to preserve and thoughtfully restore a historic downtown Nelson property that has long held significance within the local community. In 2014, we began a long-term restoration project focused on carefully bringing the building back to life while respecting its original character. Over several years, the restoration was completed in collaboration with local trades and craftspeople, combining structural renewal with thoughtful design adaptation for modern use.
The project was completed in 2022, when the building reopened as Stirling Suites, a family-owned boutique hotel built on preservation, craftsmanship, and long-term stewardship.

Our History
A 1914 heritage building, reimagined for today
Built in 1914, the Stirling’s building has stood for over a century, carrying a long architectural history and strong early 20th-century character. Through a careful and extensive restoration, the building was fully renewed for modern hospitality while preserving its most significant remaining original feature, the interior staircase.
The restoration focused on respectfully reworking the structure while introducing contemporary design, comfort, and functionality for today’s guests. Today, the building blends historic foundation with modern boutique accommodation, offering a refreshed interpretation of a classic early-Canadian structure.
